How to Write a Press Release

A press release is a news release or press release is a written or recorded communication directed at members of the news media for the purpose of announcing something claimed as having news value. Typically, it is mailed or faxed to assignment editors at newspapers, magazines, radio stations, television stations, and/or television networks. Commercial newswire services are also used to distribute news releases. Sometimes news releases are sent for the purpose of announcing news conferences.

1. Focus not on advertising your business but on making your press release newsworthy.

2. Think with the mindset that less is more, no more than one page.

3. Do not forget to add your contact info, company header and the release date and location at the top of your press release.

4. Send your press release to the media that relates to it only. Blanket press releases to all media is a waste of everyones time.

5. Grab the readers attention with the the first few lines of content and your header, so make your header standout, think outside the box.

6. Again, less is more, use short sentences with double spaced lines, and make sure the content is easy to understand and to the point.

7. Utilize the body space to educate the reader on your business, services, and or products. Some people say to tell a short story, I would say to add one or two good quality customer reviews of your business, products or services.

8. What you have been waiting for… Don’t forget to add your website to the press release, this would normally go on the bottom with your company information. [A Press Release Sample]

9. Try to create a press release about something quirky, or a product that you are super excited to offer to the public, or maybe even about a local service that you are providing.

10. Maybe send out a press release about an event or local philanthropic duty that your company will be hosting, sponsoring or taking part in. This is always a great way to get the local media on your side, sometimes it pays to offer product samples, or your services for free.

11. Launching a new web site? Perfect opportunity to write a quick press release.

12. Anyone endorsing your business, product or services? Create a press release letting everyone know.

13. Offering a special discount to the local community? Create a press release.

14. Do you belong to the local business association or BBB (Better Business Bureau)? Create a press release letting everyone know.

15. Has your company received any special awards or positive recognition? Create a press release about it.

16. Diving into a new venture or new niche? Create a press release about the new direction your company may be going in or about a new service that you are offering.

17. Starting a strategic advertising campaign? Create a press release and let the media know.

18. Has your company just received a contract with a prominent organization or well-known company? Create a press release.

19. Take a backseat and ask all of the people and companies that you work with to add your business, product(s) or services to the their press release. Chances are you may get more than you bargained for.

20. Of course, always proofread your press release many times over before submitting it to any media outlet. Imagine send a press release that you worked so hard on and you put the wrong website address or phone number. Tons of lost perspectives.

21. If you do not have a website, get one, have one built and create a press release about it in it’s development stage (it’s coming soon), and create a press release when it launches (completed product). Looking for a website try MiCAH7

“I don’t just get up there and rip my clothes off,”
she says.

An 80-year-old Las Vegas stripper dancer still gets down with class, the ‘Girl with the Fabulous Front’ still takes it all off for the crowd and fans young and old.

Visitors are greeted by photos of a young Elvis, her favorite rock ‘n’ roller and, she says, a former lover.

He met her after her show in Las Vegas and fiddled with her skirt as he introduced himself. The relationship ended about a year later because Elvis’ manager didn’t approve of him dating a stripper, she says.

But she could not change who she was. Stripping already had made her famous.

It put her in the room with Hollywood’s heavyweights. Frank Sinatra, Dean Martin, Mickey Rooney, Nat King Cole.

She dated some, just danced for others. The evidence is framed and displayed on tables and the living room wall.

That’s Storm and Vic Damone. Storm teaching Walter Cronkite to dance. Storm and her fourth and last husband, Herb Jefferies, a star of black cowboy films who swept her off her feet in 1957 when such unions were instant scandals. They divorced in 1970.

The moment is brief.

Storm is rarely wistful. She has no doubt she still is what she once was. Although she performs just handful of times a year, she would do more, if asked. She chides those who think age takes a toll on sex appeal.

“Ridiculous,” she says.

A Little History

Independence Day otherwise known as the Fourth of July is a federally celebrated holiday within the United States (USA) commemorating the Declaration of Independence which was adopted on July 4, 1776, declaring independence from the Kingdom of Great Britain.

July 4th, or Independence Day is commonly associated and celebrated with fireworks, parades, barbecues (BBQ), carnivals, picnics, baseball games, and various other public and private events celebrating the history and traditions of the United States.

On July 4th What is Happening in your neck of the woods?

* America’s Freedom Festival at Provo , in Utah, is one of the largest freedom festivals. It includes one of the largest Independence Day parades, and the Stadium of Fire.

* Every year in the U.S.A., the Rainbow Family gather for prayer for World Peace. With attendance ranging from 10,000 to 25,000 or more participants, most refer to it as Interdependance Day as all live in primitive conditions by choice, in State Forests and rely upon one another for the first week of July. Participants on Independence Day pray, meditate, or are silent on the morning of Independence Day, ending in a verbal group expression, Aum or Om. The Rainbow Gathering takes place annually for the first week of July.

* The Midwest’s largest fireworks display, called “Red, White and Boom“, happens on the last weekday before Independence Day in Downtown Columbus, Ohio. An estimated crowd of 500,000 to 750,000 attend and thousands more people view the fireworks display in HD on NBC Columbus, which is synchronized to music by 97.9 WNCI.

* The town of Bristol, Rhode Island, is noted for having the oldest, continuous Independence Day celebration in the United States (since 1785).

* James River Assembly in Ozark, Missouri, hosts the annual “I Love America” Celebration at the Springfield Underground. In 1997, 13,000 people showed up for the first event. In 2006, 120,000 people attended the celebration. Highlights include the choir’s “Living Flag“, the “Concert in the Sky“, nearly 100 games and activities, and a four-hour air show.

* A colorful Independence Day event is the Nathan’s Hot Dog Eating Contest in Coney Island, Brooklyn, New York, which supposedly started on July 4, 1916 as a way to settle a dispute among four immigrants as to who was the most patriotic. It was estimated that Americans would consume about 150 million hot dogs on July 4, 2006, or almost one hot dog for every other person in the United States.

* New York City also hosts the famous Macy’s Fireworks Display over the East River televised nationwide.

* In Boston, a fireworks show is held over the Charles River Esplanade with the Boston Pops playing in the background. In recent years it too is televised nationwide.

* Major League Baseball games are also played on Independence Day. Since 1959, NASCAR has held the Coke Zero 400 (formerly the “Firecracker 400“) on July 4 or the Saturday of Independence Day weekend.

* On the Capitol lawn in Washington, D.C., a free concert, “A Capitol Fourth“, precedes the fireworks and attracts over half a million people annually.

* In a remarkable series of coincidences, both John Adams and Thomas Jefferson, two founding fathers of the U.S., and the only two men who signed the Declaration of Independence to become President of the United States, died on the same day: July 4, 1826, which was the United States’ 50th anniversary. President James Monroe died exactly five years later, on July 4, 1831, though he did not sign the Declaration of Independence.

* The City of Urbandale, Iowa celebrates the biggest nationwide celebration in a location with a population less than 50,000

* Seward, Nebraska is known for its Independence Day celebration. Dating back to 1868 they have honored and celebrated Independence Day, the 2008 celebration will mark its 140th celebration.

* The annual 10 kilometer Peachtree Road Race is held in Atlanta, GA.

Fireworks for your enjoyment… Happy 4th of July!

Under New Management

Ok… the Beef Jerky Blog is under new management… the funny thing is that we really didn’t pay for the blog we just offered our services and it was given to us to manage. Of course there is something in it for the owner, talk about making money while you sleep and we have taken on the task of picking this blog site up and running with coal in hopes to make flames for a successful BBQ.

How’s that for a nice summer time idea? Everybody loves BBQ and unless you live in Florida or in some parts of the south then the Spring/ Summer is the only time you can really ‘REALLY’ appreciate a good BBQ. I’ve digressed and gone somewhere else… Well it is the 3rd of July…

I won’t bother you too much with all the general about me blah blah blah…, because time is blah and blah is life, but if we can deliver content that helps you make money or view the world in a better way then we are on the road to succeeding… See you around…

What we will be changing:
1. So far the site design will stay the same
2. The content will be within the range of the blogs most popular content, so far readers have appreciated the content so we decided not to dive too far from what is working best for the reader
3. Advertising packages will be re-added and cost effecient

So far that is about it… Thank you for your time…

Kirby
